gamesOK.org is a resource for educators and students within "new design" fields, such as games, animation and media design. Our goal is to share curriculum and insight on the best practices for teaching these in these areas, as well as provide resources to connect students with prospective employers.

These different mediums/fields of design are often so new that it is hard to find standardize curriculum, up-to-date information, creative inspiration and even job openings for these fields in the mid-west. Everyday more and more businesses are using these mediums to get their message out there. The mid-west is a prime location to establish a business or pursue a degree in these digital media industries. As the mid-west, primary states such as Oklahoma and Kansas, continue to grow in these fields, it has become evident that there is no centralized location for locating degree programs, employee, employers and curriculum for these industries.

Today games are full virtual worlds, which are being used not only for entertainment but for education and training as well. With the continuous growth in this industry the study of game design is quickly becoming a popular program of study at many higher educational institutions.
The study of animation has since evolved from the drawing board to the computer screen. Animators now apply the same principles of animation, established by Disney, to 2D and 3D computer animation applications.
Media design encompauses all other digital design mediums, including digital imaging, film/video prodcution, mobile design, and web development/design. This field of study focuses on the basic design principles and how they can be applied towards new and emerging design technologies.
The study of design continues to change as new technologies develop and allow for new was for the audience to view design. Education is all about the study and teaching of the best practices and stands in these new design fileds.
